Carl has a master degree in Political Science (1992) and in European Law (1993) and a PhD in Political Sciences (2000). He started his academic carreer as a student of globalisation and trade unions. At the department of political science, he is responsible for the study of national, in particular Belgian internal, politics. Carl Devos teaches an introductionary and an advanced course on political science, about methods of political science and about Belgian federalism. He is also responsible for the internship in the political science program. His research mainly concerns decision making in the Belgian consociational federation. Carl Devos is former editor-in-chief of 'Res Publica', a Flemish-Dutch scientific journal of political sciences and 'Samenleving en Politiek'. He is columnist for various media, such as De Morgen, Le Vif and VRT, and a frequently asked analyst of Belgian politics.
