Gilles is a PhD candidate and assistant at the department of Political Science of Ghent University. He holds an MA in European Studies (2010, cum laude) and an MSc in European Politics and Policies (2011, magna cum laude), both obtained at KU Leuven. His main research interest is the multilevel democratic governance of the European Union and the role of political parties therein. As a teaching assistant, Gilles is involved in courses on public governance, Belgian and European politics. He also supports students in the internship program and their master's dissertation. Before starting in academia, Gilles worked at the European Commission and several Brussels-based advocacy groups.
