Sigrid Van Trappen is a junior researcher at the Department of Political Sciences of Ghent University. She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and Management (2017, Ghent University). Her research interests comprise political representation and voting behavior. Currently, she conducts quasi-experimental research on political ethnic stereotypes. She examines whether voters’ perception of candidates belonging to ethnic minorities differ from those of candidates belonging to ethnic majorities. Furthermore, she analyses which aspects activate those stereotypes and which voters are most likely to be influenced by them.
